Don't just ramble on when writing your GRE essays. Choose specific, descriptive words. Vague Language weakens your writing because it forces the reader to guess what you mean instead of concentrating fully on your ideas and style. The essay topics you'll be given aren't going to be obscure. You will be able to come up with specific examples and concrete information about the topics. your argument will be more forceful if you stick to this information.

Using the passive voice is a way to avoid accountability. Put verbs in the active voice whenever possible. In the active voice, the subject performs the action (e.g., we write essay). In the passive voice, the subject is the receiver of the action and is often only implied (e.g.,essays are written).

Every living thing has a built-in guidance system or goal-striving device, put there by its Creator to help it achieve its goal-which is, in broad terms-to "live." In the simpler forms of life the goal "to live" simply means physical survival for both the individual and the species.
The built-in mechanism in animals is limited to finding food and shelter, avoiding or overcoming enemies and hazards, and procreation to insure the survival of the species.
